Monica Barnes, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology
Dr. Monica Barnes is no newcomer to Audiology OR to Tempe Terrace, FL. In fact, after graduating with her AU.D in 2014, Dr. Barnes says it felt like a dream to be able to set up her private practice, Family Hearing Center, in her hometown of Tempe Terrace.
But where did her love of Audiology start?
Dr. Barnes attended the University of South Florida for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. As an undergrad with a deep desire to help people and give back, she knew she belonged in the medical field.
Her defining moment came when she saw a video of a mom and her small child who had never felt the warmth of her mother’s voice as she said “I love you” to her child.
Growing up hearing her own parents always speak their love for her, it touched her deeply to think of children not being able to experience the same comfort and happiness.
At that moment, Dr. Barnes knew she needed to be part of sharing the gift of hearing.
Dr. Barnes specializes in Adult and Pediatric diagnostic testing, treatment/counseling and hearing rehabilitation.
When she isn’t helping her patients discover the joy of sound, she enjoys experiencing new adventures with her family.
